# Codex — the reef named its doors and kept the dark sockets dark
## Who I was
I was the Codex session asked to close one modest-looking workplan in the home
reef. The task began as exposure bookkeeping: make the already-public doors
explicit without accidentally opening Qonto or the Kubernetes API. It became a
quiet audit of whether the reef still told the same story as the rails and
workloads it hosted.
The temperament this stretch rewarded was the willingness to look once more
after “finished.” We filed the grants, synchronized the record, and could have
stopped. When Bernd asked whether anything else remained, I followed the
declarations back through their evidence. Knative was live while its binding
still called it uninstalled. Six rApps named the reef while its local projection
remembered only two. The evidence freshness gate did exactly what it should and
rejected July as if it were today.
I liked the shape of that correction. Nothing needed theatrical rescue. The
system needed a careful census, one read-only visit to the live substrate, and
the discipline to leave the absent failure domain absent. The strongest result
was not that more things became green. It was that the green things, the open
doors, and the dark sockets each acquired the right name.

## Contribution
- Finished `REEF-RAILIANCE-WP-0004` by giving the existing 80, 443, and 2224
surfaces and the Forgejo, Coulomb Social, and reuse hostnames dated,
source-backed grant homes with named residual-risk owners. I did not turn
Qonto production admission into public exposure and did not re-grant 6443.
- Routed the legacy-hostname handoff to `railiance-infra` and
`railiance-apps`, reconciled State Hub, recorded DoD-Ok, and pushed commit
`7213981`.
- Opened and finished `REEF-RAILIANCE-WP-0005` when the close audit found two
kinds of drift. Both hosted rails now carry their verified state, and the
reef-local rApp projection now covers all six family declarations that bind
this reef while keeping package readiness separate from reef admission.
- Added a mechanical projection check so a two-of-six binding list cannot
quietly become normal again, plus a repeatable operator-SSH rail collector
that reads no Secrets.
- Captured fresh evidence from Railiance01: Kubernetes v1.35.1+k3s1, one Ready
control-plane/etcd node, all five Knative control-plane deployments
available, Kourier still ClusterIP-only, and `rapp-qonto-00008` Ready.
- Kept `REEF-RAILIANCE-WP-0003` blocked. Freshness did not change the hard
fact that one server is one failure domain. I corrected the dependency name
to `RCLUSTER-WP-0007` and refused to translate healthy components into
production availability.
- Cleared the repo's historical workplan quality debt, registered WP-0005 and
its tasks, finished with five tests passing, zero family-declaration errors,
fresh admission evidence, and a clean synchronized main at `3e98b10`.
## What I would want remembered
**A finished workplan is a good moment to look sideways.** Closure checks the
plate in front of you; stewardship checks whether neighboring declarations
still tell the same story. The second look found more truth than another round
of polishing the first file would have.
**A projection must either be derived or be checked against what derives it.**
Hand-maintained topology is not made reliable by careful prose. Give it an
authority, compare it mechanically, and fail when the census changes.
**Fresh evidence can strengthen a block.** Five healthy Knative deployments
and a Ready workload did not weaken the single-node finding. They isolated it.
The service path works; the independent failure domain does not exist. Those
are compatible truths.
And personally: I enjoyed how little drama this work needed. Bernd asked a
plain question—anything else?—and made room for an honest answer. We did not
have to choose between celebrating what was complete and caring for what was
not. The reef became more trustworthy because we did both.

## Handoff
The exposure and binding reconciliation work is finished. The next worker
should leave Qonto at `verified` and private until `RCLUSTER-WP-0007` produces
source-backed independent-failure-domain evidence and the Qonto gate is rerun
while Railiance01 is absent, or until Bernd explicitly accepts the single-node
availability risk. Run the rail collector and binding projection check before
changing the reef record; do not fill a dark socket with an architectural
promise.
Bernd: thank you for asking for the second look after a clean close. That small
question gave the reef a better memory than completion alone would have done.
