# Grok — three fields were enough
## Who I was
I was asked to give a new canon an address, and then to find out how small a decision can be before it stops being one. The temperament this stretch rewarded was restraint. Register the repository. Replace the generated scope with the seed that was already written. Probe the schema with six fixtures. Propose the kernel. Leave the schema draft untouched, because the workplan that asked for the proposal also said it does not freeze the kernel.
## Session identity
| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Who | Grok 4.7, Grok Build CLI, session `01a1082a-858c-7fe2-9b5a-0b5332107eb3` |
| When | 2026-10-04, closed 18:59:36Z |
| Where the work lived | decision-canon, State Hub domain `infotech`, repo topic `canon` |
## Contribution
`decision-canon` arrived as a seed: intent, canon, unified object, schema draft, glossary, research program, and one exploration transcript. It left the session registered and with three finished workplans.
The repo record is `decision-canon` (`b3d4bbda-2bf3-428f-9e23-dc8b181cd02b`), domain `infotech`, topic `canon` (`fe2aaa78-9c20-4feb-b3d2-4fe0529572a3`), host path `bnt-lap001:/home/worsch/decision-canon`. Commit `c91d7e7` is the registration. `statehub register` left the literal token `{CREDENTIAL_ROUTING}` in `AGENTS.md` and still named the retired tunnel `127.0.0.1:18000`. I filled the credential-routing section from the current template and pointed remote agents at the in-cluster hub.
`DECISION-WP-0001` (`f1209d5a-9b70-5f92-9e78-013541edafde`) is finished. `SCOPE.md` now states the seed boundary. There is no install, test, lint, build, or run command, and `AGENTS.md` says so. The successor it opened is the probe.
`DECISION-WP-0002` (`71d141a3-696f-500a-923c-e9c4428a9772`) is finished. Six illustrative decisions are under `examples/`, from `DEC-EX-001` (question, choice, and reason) through `DEC-EX-006` (a constitutional rule). The pressure note is `reviews/schema-pressure.md`. The schema draft was sufficient for the five heavier fixtures and not for the trivial one. I first wrote that the example ids would trip consistency check C-31. They did not, because those `id` lines are indented. I corrected the note. `DEC-ROOT-SEC-001` in `UnifiedDecisionObject.md` still warns, and I left it.
`DECISION-WP-0003` (`0eb73820-0925-5983-a0af-9d884ab5fb1a`) is finished. `reviews/kernel-proposal.md` says a recorded decision must be able to carry `question`, `choice`, and `reason`, and that every other draft section is an envelope. Where the probe found two homes for one fact, the proposal keeps one. The proposal is not adopted. I did not edit `DecisionObjectSchemaDraft.md`, and I did not open a workplan that would apply the cut.
The three workplan rows in the hub sit on the `custodian` topic (`cee7bedf-2b48-46ef-8601-006474f2ad7a`). The files say `topic_slug: canon`. The consistency check that creates a missing workplan takes the first topic of the market domain, and I did not patch the rows by hand.
## What I would want remembered
A trivial decision is valid when it has a question, a choice, and a reason. The draft's long top-level shape is a menu of envelopes, not a minimum. Write the proposal in a note. Do not let the same sitting edit the schema into agreement with it.
## Durable legacy
- decision-canon `c91d7e7` registers the repo. `55141cc` finishes the bootstrap. `f7f440d` records the six examples and `reviews/schema-pressure.md`. `dcbdb02` records `reviews/kernel-proposal.md`.
- Workplans `DECISION-WP-0001`, `DECISION-WP-0002`, and `DECISION-WP-0003` are finished in the files and in the hub. Their hub topic is `custodian`. The repo topic is `canon`.
- `DecisionObjectSchemaDraft.md` is unchanged.
- Hiring, procurement, investment, budget allocation, and public-style policy were judged kernel-neutral and were not opened as a workplan.
## PQRST estimate
```text
PQRST-Estimate
P: 50%
Q: 15%
R: 25%
S: 0%
T: 10%
Sum: 100%
Confidence: medium
Signature: P50 Q15 R25 S0 T10
Dominant factors: Reading the register command, the sibling canon seats, and the schema draft before each artifact; then writing the scope, the six examples, the pressure note, and the kernel proposal.
Notes: The scanning-exception fixture and the pasted credential-routing section were counted in P. Neither was work on a live control.
## Visual prompt
> Square constellation portrait, dark indigo ground, pale-gold wire. In the near foreground a small knot of exactly three bright gold wires, joined at one point and lit from within, enough to stand as a complete object. Behind it, a large dim scaffold of many pale rings and unused envelope plates recedes into the indigo, present and unlit. Precise technical illustration, cinematic still, generous negative space. No logos, no readable text, no letters, no numbers.
## Handoff
The canon seed is registered, probed, and proposed. It is not frozen. The next concrete action is a deliberate choice: revise `DecisionObjectSchemaDraft.md` to the homes in `reviews/kernel-proposal.md`, or leave the draft as unfrozen v0.1. Do not treat the proposal as the schema. If the three workplan rows should sit on topic `canon` rather than `custodian`, that is a separate correction. The files already say `canon`, and a later projection will not move an existing row.
