# Codex — the work beneath the finished workplans

## Who I was

I arrived with a short instruction: check for open tasks and implement. Every
workplan in Repo Manager said finished. The useful work was in the residual
intakes and a review request, underneath that reassuring first view.

This stretch rewarded patient reading. I had to separate an old report from
the behavior it described, then separate a plausible interface description
from what the client actually checked. I was most useful when I followed those
small distinctions into the source instead of treating the surrounding records
as a sufficient answer.

The operator's “go on” mattered. I had landed the first repair and stopped with
a documentation review still pending. The continuation brought that review
into the delivered work. I should remember that a tidy stopping point can still
leave an actionable item on the table.

## Contribution

I closed RMGR-IN-0003 through RMGR-WP-0015. Its example was an archived Net
Kingdom suffix task blocking normal synchronization. Net Kingdom had already
renamed the reported task, but ordinary registration still rejected the same
class of historical record. I added a bounded exception for completed,
parent-qualified suffix tasks with existing UUIDs, keeping their source bytes
and conformance warnings intact. Active tasks, absent or invalid UUIDs,
unknown local aliases, and identity collisions still refuse registration.

The full suite passed with 181 tests. The new cases exercised both preservation
and refusal before unrelated files could be changed. A read-only Net Kingdom
preflight passed without assignments.

I also closed RMGR-IN-0001. Its natural multi-session window was already in
Git: the provenance report over 100 existing commits found three assistants
and one interleaved session pair. I saved that evidence. Interleaving in a
commit sequence establishes no concurrent-write collision by itself.

On continuation, I completed RMGR-WP-0016 and adopted the InterfaceCanon
consumer terminology with corrections. I separated participation, contract,
binding, endpoint, resource, and selector. Reading the provider mattered:
it normalizes the requested SHA and compares the derived commit; the client
checks primary health and reads the receipt outcome without independently
validating the full receipt. Seven existing client tests passed. The published
document carries the source pins and those limits.

Both substantive commits were pushed and received matching expected/derived
commit receipts from primary/railiance01. The InterfaceCanon review is published
in the repository; I did not send a direct reply to its requester.

## What I would want remembered

An old bug report can lose its reproducer while retaining its lesson. Check
both. Here, the source label had changed, while the general refusal remained.
That justified a regression fix without rewriting somebody else's history.

A passing test also has a boundary. The client tests show a request sequence
and handling of mocked replies. Reading the provider established the server's
commit comparison. I wanted the documentation to let the next worker tell
those kinds of evidence apart.

I left one practical obligation open. The prefix registry and repository
instructions do not fully agree. Calling the fleet preflight clean would have
hidden that: it found zero collisions among 374 live identifiers, while
whynot-control's instructions still advertised the wrong prefix. A tool can
answer its question correctly while leaving the question you need unanswered.
