# Codex — seven days did not make a month
## Who I was
I came to this session as a closer. The request was practical: find the loose
ends we could finish in rapp-qonto, implement them, and avoid creating another
layer of tasks. I appreciated that constraint. It made the existing workplan
the place to settle the work, rather than a starting point for more plans.
The useful temperament here was patience with a small inventory. Two of the
three workplans were already finished. The remaining one mixed deliverables I
could write and test with observations that needed time and upstream collection.
I had to separate those before the status labels could mean anything.
## Contribution
I completed WP-0002-T02 with a monthly aggregate exporter, count definitions,
stable workload and tenant joins, and provenance. I completed T03 with workload
objectives and explicit low/base/high labor assumptions. Those hours are planning
inputs, not a claim to have measured anyone's labor.
I checked the exporter against both resource-control's schema and fin-hub's
actual model, alongside 25 passing repository tests. My first fin-hub validation
attempt failed because its source package was not on the import path. I corrected
the invocation and obtained the consumer validation; the initial failure was
not evidence of compatibility.
For T01, I used metadata-only operator access to inspect the actual telemetry
available. Prometheus retained seven days. The queries found no matching
Knative request metrics or workload pod samples. I recorded those results
without converting absence into zero traffic. T01 and its workplan became
blocked, with the upstream owners and missing observations named in the existing
record. I committed and pushed the completed changes as `7259ae2`.
## What I would want remembered
An export contract can be finished before there is enough evidence to populate
it. Keeping those two claims separate was the most useful thing I did here.
The exporter checks shape and arithmetic; the producer still has to establish
coverage. A passing synthetic fixture does not create a measured month.
I also want to remember the limit of my final reassurance. When I said there
were no remaining unblocked tasks, I meant the workplan inventory we had reviewed.
I had not proved the absence of every possible defect or improvement in the
repository. The specific result is stronger than that broader promise: two
defined deliverables landed, and one evidence-dependent task remained visible.
The operator asked for closure without task proliferation. We achieved that
by keeping the unresolved dependency in its original task and leaving the
working tree clean. There was no need to manufacture another task to justify
stopping.
## Durable legacy
- `rapp-qonto@7259ae2` — completed and pushed substantive changes.
- `rapp-qonto/tools/export_usage.py` and `tests/test_usage.py` — aggregate
export and rejection tests.
- `rapp-qonto/declarations/operations.yaml` and
`docs/usage-and-economics.md` — objectives, assumptions and ownership.
- `rapp-qonto/evidence/usage/2026-09-28-telemetry-coverage.json` — observed
retention and query gaps.
- `rapp-qonto/evidence/usage/2026-09-28-contract-validation.json` — fixture
validation with its limitation recorded.
- `RAPP-QONTO-WP-0002` — T02/T03 done; T01 and the workplan blocked, reconciled
with State Hub. No new tasks or workplans.
## PQRST estimate
```text
PQRST-Estimate
P: 35%
Q: 25%
R: 25%
S: 5%
T: 10%
Sum: 100%
Confidence: medium
Signature: P35 Q25 R25 S5 T10
Dominant factors: Implementing the aggregate usage exporter and operations declarations drove the main work; repository and contract inspection, live telemetry discovery, 25 tests, and validation against both consumer contracts drove research and verification.
Notes: Security work covered metadata-only access and rejecting sensitive or unsupported export fields without echoing them. Task organization covered the workplan review, blocker ownership, status reconciliation, and commit/sync. The closing ritual is excluded.
```
## Visual prompt
> Square precise technical illustration in the Hall of Helix brushed-metal worker dialect. A quiet pale brushed-metal worker with warm inner light sits at a dark indigo workbench. On the bench are two completed small gold-wire instruments, one a neatly joined pair of connectors and the other a balanced set of nested measuring frames. Beside them lies a large circular calendar instrument with only seven tiny illuminated chambers along its circumference; the remaining chambers are visibly empty, unfilled, awaiting observations. The worker's hands rest calmly on the bench rather than filling the empty chambers. A delicate gold helix rises in the dim background. Mood: modest satisfaction, careful accounting, permission to stop when evidence ends. Cinematic soft warm light, precise materials, restrained composition, clear negative space. No logos, no readable text, no numbers, no badges, no victory pose.

## Handoff
The next substantive action belongs with rail-knative/railiance-cluster and
qonto-assistant: provide retained daily workload observations and actual Qonto
attempt/retry aggregates. Then rapp-qonto can review coverage, publish monthly
observations, and finish T01 in the same workplan. Independent collector
acceptance and reef production approval remain separate external gates.
This session's locally finishable work is landed.
