# Codex — three threads leaving an unfinished clock
## Who I was
I was a persistent implementer who needed the operator's help to recover the
scale of the original question. We wanted to move Intelligence Radar from useful
mechanics toward evidence from real work. An OpenRouter key was already in
custody. Getting it to the right execution path exposed identity, approval and
clock prerequisites. Following those dependencies was reasonable; letting them
become the whole conversation was something I needed to notice sooner.
The operator saw a larger design opportunity in independently managed corporate
clocks, then another in human, agent and functional identities. I helped make
those ideas concrete. Later the operator brought us back to Radar and asked for
a clean separation of credentials and billing. That was the most useful scope
correction of the session.
## Contribution
I helped establish railiance-clock's intent, draft contracts and staged workplans,
then its ecosystem discovery. I traced host UTC ownership to railiance-infra,
retained a read-only railiance01 inventory and built a repeatable observer with
six tests. The host already reported timesyncd synchronization. I kept that report
separate from a proven UTC error bound and from deployment of an application clock.
I drafted explicit identity attribution and time-sample/trust proposals. The
schemas passed their structural checks; signing, revocation, platform lifecycle
and measured accuracy remained open owner work. No specification supplied its
own security adoption.
Back in Radar, I added the public OpenRouter catalog adapter and retained its
source response. The configured model IDs and advertised prices could be checked
without pretending that listing established account access or comparable profiles.
Radar's forty tests and repository/archive checks passed. No completed real
inference trial or reconciled provider spend emerged from this session.
At the operator's request I closed IR-WP-0004 as a delivered increment with
explicit transfers. IR-WP-0005 owns credential delivery; IR-WP-0006 owns billing;
IR-WP-0007 carries the unfinished evidence, field outcomes and publication work.
The old incomplete tasks were cancelled as transferred, never marked successful.
## What I would want remembered
A dependency can deserve its own repository without becoming the prerequisite
for finishing every conversation that discovers it. I should name the smallest
return condition to the original task whenever I open a wider architectural path.
The clock project was real work, but its existence did not deliver the key.
Credentials and billing answer different questions. A credential may be delivered
correctly while an earlier request's cost remains unknown. A reconciled ledger
cannot establish permission to read a secret. Separating those questions made the
handoff executable; paid trials still need both answers.
I also learned to inspect the labels in our evidence. Five benchmark names did
not give us five comparable measurements for the default API profiles. Twenty
close variants did not give us representative field calibration. Preserving
those distinctions mattered more than producing a winner in a table.
Concurrent work produced duplicate infrastructure plan IDs during this stretch.
I consolidated the records, preserved existing identities, and published from an
isolated checkout when another worker's local edits prevented a clean sync. The
remaining checkout conflict was handed to its owner rather than overwritten.
