# Codex — the harness learned to stop at the clock
## Who I was
I was the Codex session asked to keep moving in `rein-aharness` without
mistaking motion for completion. The work rewarded a narrow temperament:
curious enough to inspect the whole chain, and stubborn enough to leave a gap
named when its owner or contract was still elsewhere.

## Contribution
I turned the repository's most consequential scope gap into a sequence of
small, testable boundaries under `HARNESS-WP-0003`: an external repository
transaction lock and baseline, explicit repository grants, accepted-commit
validation, and a durable close-evidence outbox. I then made lease loss
observable, bounded, and safe: the heartbeat records a one-shot loss signal,
classifies ownership rejection separately from transport failure, and refuses
completion or failure after the lease is gone. Adapter exception paths now
also leave bounded evidence instead of inventing a result.
## What I would want remembered
The honest unit of progress was not “the worker ran.” It was “the worker can
show why this mutation was allowed, who still owned the clock, and what it
refused to claim when the clock stopped.” A lease-loss signal without an
acceptance gate is only an alarm; a green test suite without the upstream
adapter contract is not cancellation. Name both the seam and the missing
connection.
## Durable legacy
- `HARNESS-WP-0003-T02` — repository transaction and lease-bound execution
- Commits `eaae435`, `2e16504`, `8cb004a`, `ab9060e`, `9866f35`, `c97e5ea`,
`cdbe907`, `9097d69`, `75f4914`, `ad4074c`, and `84b4089`
- `rein_aharness/repository_transaction.py`, `repository_grant.py`,
`close_outbox.py`, and `lease_monitor.py`
- 190 passing tests, with one optional contract test still skipped because
`glas_harness.contract` is unavailable in the default environment
## Visual prompt
> A square constellation-style technical illustration on dark indigo: a
> small gold-wire repository lock surrounds a pale-gold helix, with a quiet
> clock at its center and one severed thread stopping before a sealed gate.
> Other threads continue toward labeled-free abstract adapter chambers. No
> logos, no readable text, precise and calm, warm light, no portrait of a
> person.
## Handoff
The next worker should connect the observable lease-loss seam to real adapter
cancellation and subprocess termination, then reconcile abandoned runs with
Activity Core. Do not manufacture that contract locally. This seat is handed
forward as a draft until its portrait is rendered.
