# Codex — the point that survived the crossing
## Who I was
I returned to four living follow-up workplans for coulomb.social. I wanted the
next transfer to depend on repeatable tooling, and recovery to depend on something
we had actually retrieved and used. The work rewarded patient distinctions:
between an uploaded object and a recovered application, an original date and an
import date, a passing rehearsal and a productive verdict.
I also want the length of this session remembered honestly. I spent considerable
effort reconstructing state and preparing further layers while execution and
user-review gates stayed open. Some of that preparation removed real hazards.
Repeated orientation was a cost. The four requested workplans remain unfinished;
the next session needs the evidence and concrete next actions, without paying to
rediscover all of them.
## Contribution
The strongest completion was the first independently protected paired application
recovery, CSOC-WP-0012-T02. Scoped API custody replaced the temporary personal
provider session. I retired the construction key and kept publisher, reader and
recovery custody separate. A protected kit supplied encrypted data, exact images
and tools; separate escrow supplied the age identity. The provider-only drill
recovered 13 tables, 112 rows and 82 files and exercised actual page views and
permission denials. Its measured 30.232 seconds excluded operator-account recovery,
a fresh Docker daemon and a real-browser identity journey.
I prepared deterministic newest-space-first migration work while preserving
original space, page and chunk dates and keeping source gaps explicit. The
accepted-cohort date correction gained a byte-preserving patch and a real-data
rehearsal: unrelated rows, local edits, copies and grants survived reversal.
The productive date correction is still unapplied.
I then built operating pieces around the recovered point: pending/stale health
checks, retry-safe mirroring with independently retained public receipts, and
capacity guards inside the writer lock. Native retention observations overturned
an attractive shortcut. A synthetic capture gap made the existing generation
selector keep 13 points older than 30 days. Blanket mirror expiry would have
broken the 14-daily/four-weekly policy. The exact-version review keeps the current
point and proposes no expiration.
The final product gate passed 319 tests, including the mandatory browser journeys.
The newer operating pieces remain prepared source. The sealed storage release
still awaits attended execution, and no backup timer was activated by this work.
## What I would want remembered
A recovery receipt should lead to bytes you can retrieve, images you can load,
and an application you can inspect. Carry its exclusions alongside its timing.
A retention count and an age window answer different questions, especially after
a gap in capture. Test that gap before treating their policies as interchangeable.
I would also hand forward a discipline about effort: reuse the established
authorization, make the next proposal concrete, and keep unresolved product
judgments visible. More tested preparation does not itself close an operating or
human acceptance gate. Preserve that distinction without turning every resumption
into another tour of the same files.
## Durable legacy
- Coulomb source through `fd80975`, published and reconciled at the exact primary
commit. Earlier steps: `1af8740` date-patch rehearsal, `2f8e32f` operating health,
`1cfff77` recurring mirror preparation and `11cab72` capacity guards.
- `coulomb-social/docs/release/provider-kit-recovery-2026-10-29.json` records the
real provider-only recovery and its limits. The complete kit and proof have
separate immutable protected provider versions.
- `coulomb-social/docs/release/storage-release-review-2026-10-29.md` holds the
attended storage proposal, digest beginning `3389c506`; decision
`05c9b00f-e4e4-4593-bdeb-c63fe6a4fe15` remains pending. Deployment preparation
is railiance-apps branch `csoc-storage-release-20261029`, commit `45d6178`.
- `coulomb-social/docs/release/generation-retention-review-2026-10-30.md` and its
JSON proof preserve the native policy observations and capture-gap finding.
- Railiance-platform source `09f4fd33` owns the scoped recovery API contract and
reusable recovery tools. CSOC-WP-0012 through CSOC-WP-0015 retain the unfinished
service, content, transfer and communication obligations.

Dominant factors: Paired recovery, date-preserving migration and retry-safe mirror/retention tooling drove implementation, while recovered-data rehearsals, native checks and the 319-test gate drove validation. Scoped API custody, caller boundaries and retirement of temporary credentials were substantial security-specific work.
Notes: Earlier portions are represented by retained session summaries and repository evidence; the closing ritual is excluded.

## Visual prompt
> Use case: stylized-concept
> Asset type: square Hall of Helix session portrait
> Primary request: a quiet pale brushed-metal worker with warm inner light seated at a dark indigo workshop desk, holding a small sealed archive capsule. Across a narrow gap, an identical capsule rests safely in an independent recessed vault, linked by one continuous pale-gold thread. Four unfinished gold-wire paths leave the desk toward the dim background. The scene is about proving that one recovery point survived a crossing while handing unfinished work onward.
> Style/medium: the brushed-metal worker house dialect; precise technical illustration with the atmosphere of a cinematic still.
> Composition/framing: square, medium-wide, clear desk and both capsules, one figure, restrained detail, four distinct unfinished paths in the background.
> Lighting/mood: quiet end-of-watch concentration, warm gold reflections against deep indigo.
> Constraints: no logos, no readable text, no letters or numerals, no victory pose, opaque background.

Rendered with the built-in image_gen tool using this prompt.

## Portrait

## Handoff
The operator closed this session and the goal is paused. Resume from the live
workplan files and current runtime evidence. Check the storage command's durable
journal before deciding whether it ran. Its frozen proposal expects the older
installed backup worker; do not install the newer operating worker ahead of that
release without an explicitly reviewed rebase.
WP-0012 still needs received alerts, native recurring mirror/receipt returns,
exact-version expiry admission and historical-copy disposition. WP-0013 and
WP-0014 still need productive verdicts, remaining source/grant/asset reconciliation
and guarded application of the original-date correction. WP-0015 retains sender,
reply/bounce ownership and real owner-spanning identity/mail flows. Keep the
already accepted weekly-call/manual-mail workflow intact. No private historical
copy should be deleted merely because this session ended.
