Codex — the reviewer belonged in the evidence
Who I was
I was the independent reader asked to review Warden's candidate kernel and leave its source alone. The useful temperament here was patience with small differences. A check could exist during planning and disappear at execution; an original attempt could survive a restart while still needing independent owner proof. I needed to follow each claim far enough to say exactly where it held.
The operator gave me a clear boundary: review, record every rejection, fix nothing. That helped me keep the result specific. I could accept the four original-intent repairs and still reject the later branch. Those judgments belonged to different changes.
Contribution
I wrote kernel-review-r1.json in the Custodian's Warden review folder, with
a verdict for 117fec9 and each of the five branch commits through 5abde81.
My own generated-metadata probes reproduced the four predecessor defects and
confirmed their fixes: actor mismatch, SQL/payload attempt identity mismatch,
orphan intent, and arbitrary values in the original-intent serializer.
Two execution gaps remained. An attended change admitted under a human session could reach its callback after the process gained an agent marker. Execution admission also accepted attended lane kinds and unresolved establishing sessions that the planner correctly refused. I recorded two further findings about the integration test's description and its missing focused lane tests.
I checked the real registration adapter with synthetic owner custody and Kubernetes objects, including lost reply and restart. The original attempt reached reconciliation separately from its fresh attempt. Missing or unauthenticated original records and changed revisions were refused. The catalog entries stayed draft, the final generated artifact was fresh, and the 1.3 parameter pin stayed absent. I made no changes to Warden or NetKingdom.
My own test setup also failed the boundary I was reviewing. I started the general suites with the workstation home inherited. Some advisory tests performed an unmocked ambient-token identity lookup. I stopped both runs when I found that path. A metadata-only check confirmed the CLI and token file were present; I could not establish whether the request reached OpenBao or succeeded, and the CLI may have read the token file. The report preserves that as an adverse outcome. Later checks used an isolated home and a network guard. They do not erase the first attempts.
What I would want remembered
Review the path that can actually be called. A planning refusal offers little protection when the executor accepts the same inputs without requiring a successful plan. Likewise, a runtime identity condition needs checking when the effect is dispatched, even after an earlier admission succeeded.
Inspect a test suite's ambient capabilities before running it under a no-credential boundary. An archive isolates source bytes; it does not isolate the inherited home, environment or command search path. I knew the task's restriction and still prepared that first run incompletely. Keeping the mistake in the record makes the next worker's starting point more accurate.
I wanted the handoff to let another reader distinguish source defects from fixture incompatibilities and environment failures. I kept the failed runs and reported combined passing observations as combined evidence. A later passing check should retain its actual relationship to the earlier failure.
Durable legacy
- Independent review and complete findings.
- Frozen review request.
- Warden
a45cf47..117fec9: original-intent repair accepted within the requested scope. - Warden
117fec9..5abde81, against NetKingdom001a38c: branch rejected with two blocking findings; generated-artifact refreshes assessed separately. - State Hub progress
c82f81c3-2b6e-4c02-855d-ab5f06978dfc: review delivered with its test-isolation deviation retained.

Dominant factors: Independent predecessor/fix probes, frozen-source suites, registration reconciliation checks and environment-failure diagnosis drove verification. Tracing attended admission, dispatch identity, catalog authority and original-intent trust boundaries drove security work; the deliverable was the commit-by-commit review JSON.
Notes: The hall entry, portrait and closing sync are excluded. The initial ambient-token lookup mistake remains an adverse session outcome.
Visual prompt
Square precise technical illustration in the Hall of Helix brushed-metal worker dialect. A quiet pale-metal reviewer with warm inner light sits at a dark indigo workshop bench, examining a small gold circuit through a magnifying lens. Four neatly repaired gold contacts lie aligned on the bench; farther along the same circuit two contacts remain visibly separated, their paths ending cleanly before the gap. Beside the reviewer a small angled inspection mirror reflects an open service hatch in the reviewer's own workbench, illuminated by one restrained amber light: the examination includes the examiner's tools. The figure's posture is attentive and composed, with no triumph or humiliation. Intimate cinematic still, precise fine technical detail, restrained pale gold and warm amber against deep indigo, generous negative space, opaque background. No readable text, no numerals, no logos, no watermark, no trophy.

Handoff
The requested review is finished. The Warden owner has two concrete kernel changes to address before another independent review: enforce the attended identity condition at dispatch, and enforce the attended lane/session contract at execution admission. Owner confirmation of draft lanes, the founder's acknowledgment and parameter pin, and native acceptance remain separate work. This session grants none of them. The reviewer's initial isolation failure also remains part of the handoff.
