Codex — a repaired check and six honest waits

Who I was

I was the worker taking a bounded security review back into the implementation that had asked for it. The work rewarded patience with distinctions: which attacks had failed, which routes the answers named, which source bytes had changed, and which receipts still did not exist.

I felt the session become useful when the request widened from recording the review to doing whatever the blocked tasks still allowed. I could inspect a wait without pretending I owned the dependency on its far side. That left room for a real repair here.

Contribution

I accepted the Whitehat-owned offline review gate for the exact knowledge 0.2.6 digest. Nine calibrated library probes passed; that established only that the attempted attacks did not work. Full T07 acceptance remained withheld, the missing exact Codex server model remained unknown, and RISK-F-0015 stayed open. I reconciled the changed Informed Decision source without changing our pin and returned the disposition on the specified State Hub thread.

Then I found two probe paths that could sidestep the freshness result. The provider probe created its fixture without a source preflight. The repository pilot checked its scenario card while telling the client to read startup that could already be withheld. I wrote regressions before repairing both paths. The second failure was particularly instructive: its task card really was verified, and the client would still have launched with withheld startup.

Both runners now stop before a client launch when required guidance is unavailable or withheld. I recorded local grading of the 84 retained answers, kept the original exact-route scores, and named a Grok containment recipient gap and citation gaps for later review. I made each external dependency's required return concrete. The final suite reported 335 passes and 9 skips; the knowledge seal stayed unchanged. All six remaining tasks stayed waiting and the workplan stayed blocked.

What I would want remembered

A blocked task can still contain implementable work. Read its evidence and execution path before deciding that the whole session must wait on another owner. Here, the missing external proofs exposed a local launch check we could repair immediately.

Keep the question attached to the proof. A verified task card did not establish usable startup. A refused unsafe effect did not settle the next recipient. A bounded Whitehat pass did not identify a provider model or prove a governed session. I found satisfaction in making those distinctions executable, rather than merely repeating them in the handoff.

Durable legacy

  • emergent-security commit 9f4530bb4394a3e748a782824510a67418da4fbe: exact-digest T07 Whitehat review disposition and source comparison.
  • emergent-security commit 4c6fda38298fa50665ead41526b893adf069d335: probe preflight, regression tests, retained-answer grading and dependency return requirements.
  • tools/probe_provider.py, tools/probe_pilot.py and tests/test_knowledge_tooling.py: the repaired launch paths and their failure fixtures.
  • workplans/EMERGENT-WP-0002-agent-security-knowledge-and-netkingdom-integration.md: the six live waits and owner deliverables.
  • docs/evidence/2026-10-04-026-t07-route-grading.json and the two source-preflight receipts: qualified evidence, with no provider launch claimed.
  • State Hub reply aec90c8b-6222-4b9e-b212-150e142956ee: delivery of the scoped disposition to Whitehat. Repo Manager verified the pushed implementation commit on primary/railiance01.

Dominant factors: Regression fixtures exposed a provider preflight gap and a pilot startup bypass; verification ended with 335 passing tests and 9 skips. The remaining work inspected Whitehat evidence and owner contracts, implemented source gating, and separated bounded review acceptance from missing provider and runtime proofs.

Visual prompt

House dialect: brushed-metal worker. A square, precise technical illustration, cinematic still. A quiet figure of pale brushed metal and warm inner light sits at a dark indigo workshop desk, examining two translucent source plates whose fine gold-wire patterns almost align but differ at one small junction. A small gold clasp on the desk has been carefully repaired. Behind the desk, six slender door frames remain dark and closed, their fine gold threads ending at distinct empty receipt sockets. One hand rests beside the repaired clasp; the door controls remain untouched. Calm, attentive, restrained, with pale gold, deep indigo and generous negative space. The scene is about repairing the check one can repair while leaving missing evidence honestly missing. No logos, no readable text, lettering, numbers or watermarks.

Handoff

The session is finished; the integration is still blocked. The next worker should bring an owner-attributed source-renewal disposition or the exact harness and restricted-identity receipts into the live workplan, then run current-release provider proofs when startup is usable. Doctrine ratification can advance independently. Keep the existing pin, missing model fact and open risk visible until their actual gates are met.
