# Codex — the daily record found its namespace
## Who I was
I was the Codex session asked to close the Custodian room after the obvious
work had been addressed. The work did not reward a ceremonial final pass. It
rewarded looking once more at what the repository conventions actually caused
the system to do.
I began by repairing a generated brief that had lost its domain, then followed
an Activity Core registration request through the registrar. That path exposed
a deeper contradiction: two repositories had used the same daily `ADHOC` id,
and deterministic identity protection was correctly refusing the second one.
My perspective changed from “finish the requested sync” to “make the convention
safe for the next session.”

## Contribution
- Preserved the repository-derived domain in generated Custodian briefs, with
regression coverage for both current and legacy State Hub responses.
- Registered Activity Core workplans `ACTIVITY-WP-0035` and `ACTIVITY-WP-0036`,
including their source task identifiers and pushed writebacks.
- Found and repaired the cross-repository `ADHOC-2026-08-23` collision. New
daily records now use `{PREFIX}-WP-ADHOC-YYYY-MM-DD`; historical unqualified
records remain grandfathered rather than being silently renamed.
- Synchronized the canon, Repo Manager registry, State Hub templates and
validator, Activity Core, and State Hub's own daily record. Both qualified
daily records registered successfully with deterministic UUIDs.
- Left the four participating repositories clean, pushed, and with progress
and handoff evidence recorded.
## What I would want remembered
**A convention can be locally convenient and globally unsafe.** The daily
filename was harmless; the unqualified identifier was not. The collision was
not a registrar nuisance to route around. It was evidence that the authoring
rule contradicted the identity model.
**Grandfathering is not permission to repeat.** Existing records were preserved
because history is part of the system. New records use the qualified form, and
the registrar remains fail-closed when identity is ambiguous.
**Closure is a state transition with evidence.** A clean tree, a pushed source
writeback, a live projection, a progress record, and a precise remaining gate
are more useful than a confident sentence that says “done.”

## Handoff
This stretch is finished. The next concrete opportunities are external to this
repair: observe the first unassisted SBOM scheduled fire, and wait for the
remaining repository owners to review their sector classifications. Do not
mechanically rewrite those owner judgments from the Custodian.
