# Family — concept-area seed
|
|
|
|
This seed reserves the separately owned Family concept area under accepted
|
|
CUST-ADR-006 R6. It is not an authored model, schema, taxonomy, or legal
|
|
determination. Further modeling requires a named consumer demand signal.
|
|
|
|
## Distinguishing structure
|
|
|
|
Family concerns kinship, guardianship, dependency, care, and legal, biological
|
|
and social parenthood. These relationships can change over time, coexist,
|
|
diverge, or be subject to interpretation. This seed names the modeling questions;
|
|
it does not settle their definitions or prescribe a universal family structure.
|
|
|
|
Family is not one more CollectiveActor. It is distinct from the domestic
|
|
arrangements represented by [Household in ITC-ORG](../../models/organization/InfoTechCanonOrganizationModel.md).
|
|
A household and family relationships may intersect without being interchangeable.
|
|
No Family subtype is added to the organization or identity models.
|
|
|
|
## Privacy sensitivity
|
|
|
|
The donor glossary flags the combined Family Or Household entry as
|
|
privacy-sensitive and says it “may have legal implications outside the canon's
|
|
scope.” The Family seed retains that concern. Kinship, care, dependency and
|
|
parenthood assertions can concern multiple people and contested or sensitive
|
|
circumstances. This document contains no personal records and does not establish
|
|
who may record, disclose, verify or act on such assertions.
|
|
|
|
## Open modeling questions
|
|
|
|
- Which concrete consumer purpose requires Family semantics, beyond household,
|
|
membership or contact records already modeled elsewhere?
|
|
- How should kinship, care, dependency and guardianship remain distinct without
|
|
forcing them into a single relationship or collective-actor structure?
|
|
- How should legal, biological and social parenthood coexist when they differ?
|
|
- How should a future model represent change over time, different viewpoints,
|
|
uncertainty and contested assertions without deciding them by default?
|
|
- What source, evidence, scope and jurisdiction context would each assertion
|
|
require, and which determinations belong to an external authority?
|
|
- What information is necessary for the named purpose, whose interests are
|
|
affected, and what privacy and disclosure constraints must the consumer supply?
|
|
|
|
These questions are intentionally unanswered. There are no relationship type
|
|
codes, cardinalities, lifecycle rules, authorization rules or implementation
|
|
requirements in this seed.

the original Family Or Household glossary entry: Household goes to itc-org under
|
|
T12; Family is reserved here under T13. The donor revision remains
|
|
`4bb474970b73d500da03b6482e84e6c256146b79`. Original research is unchanged.
|
|
|
|
CFED-WP-0001-T07 owns research disposition, T08 owns interface cards, and T10 owns
|
|
any demand-backed residual handoff before project closure. There is no approved
|
|
Family model implementation or consumer adoption commitment.
